Celebrates 90th Birthday
September 10, 2008 will mark the 90th Birthday of Rin Tin Tin.
Considered by many to be the oldest continous bloodline in the history of the breed, the original Rin Tin Tin was found in a bombed German War Dog Kennel in Lorraine, France by Cpl. Lee Duncan on September 15, 1918.
Following World War I in November 1918, Duncan returned to the United States with Rin Tin Tin and his litter sister Nannette. Nannette died soon after from distemper, but Rin Tin Tin went on to become one of Hollywood's greatest stars of the 1920s.
The original Rin Tin Tin died on August 10, 1932, but the legacy continued with his son Junior who was featured in several serials in the 1930s and 1940s.
Duncan used Rin Tin Tin III (#3) to train dogs for the military at the onset of World War II.
Rin Tin Tin II (#2) and Rin Tin Tin IV (#4) appeared in the 1950s series, The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin.
Duncan died on September 20, 1960 but not before the lineage was passed to the current owner's family in 1957.
Miss Daphne Hereford and her family has maintained the authentic lineage since that time and owned Rin Tin Tin V (#5), Rin Tin Tin VI (#6), Rin Tin Tin VII (#7), Rin Tin Tin VIII (#8), Rin Tin Tin IX (#9) and the current Rin Tin Tin X (#10) whose most recent appearances have delighted fans at events in New Jersey, Oklahoma, and Texas.
Under the watchful eye of Miss Hereford and her family for the past 50 years Rin Tin Tin has continued to delight fans across the United States with his amazing ability through appearances at dog shows, public events, and in film.
"There Will Always Be A Rin Tin Tin."
Happy Birthday Rin Tin Tin
